10 Day Tour

DAY 01: AIRPORT / NEGOMBO

Arrival at Colombo International Airport. Welcome and assistance on arrival by representatives of Vacations SriLanka. Transfer to hotel in Negombo and check in.

Afternoon take a short tour of Negombo. Visit the quaint fishing village famous for its Dutch canals. Return to Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 02: NEGOMBO / MUNESWARAN / ANURADHAPURA

After breakfast check out of hotel and leave for Chilaw, where the famous Muneswaran temple is located. . Manavari is the first Lingam installed and prayed to by Lord Rama and this lingam is also call Ramalinga Shivan.

 Enjoy lunch at local restaurant in Anuradhapura. Check in at Hotel in Anuradhapura. After short rest at hotel, proceed to take city tour of the ancient city of Anuradhapura. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Anuradhapura.

DAY 03: ANURADHAPURA / TRINCO / KANNIYA HOT SPRINGS

After breakfast check out from hotel and depart for Trincomalee. Stop for lunch enroute at local restaurant. After lunch continue on to Trincomalee.

Check in at Hotel in Trinco.

Visit the famous Hot springs located in Kanniya and visit the famous Koneswaran Kovil located in Trincomalee. Return to hotel for Dinner and overnight stay in Trncomalee.

DAY 04: TRINCOMALEE / POLONNARUWA

After breakfast check out from hotel and proceed to Polonnaruwa.

Enroute enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Check in to hotel in Polonaruwa.

Afternoon take city tour of Polonaruwa. Return to Hotel for dinner and overnight stay at in Polonnaruwa.

DAY 05: POLONNARUWA / LAGGALA / KANDY

After breakfast check out from hotel and proceed to Laggala. Laggala is derived from the Sinhala term Elakke Gala, which when translated to English mean Target Rock. Laggala served as a sentry point to the King Ravana's Army, and it was from this rock the first glimpses of Lord Rama's army was sighted. King Ravana is said to have meditated on this rock and prayed to Lord Shiva at Thiru Koneshwaran from this point.

Enjoy lunch at local restaurant. After lunch proceed to Kandy. Arrive and check in at Hotel in Kandy. Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy.

DAY 06: KANDY / NUWARA ELIYA

After breakfast, check out from hotel and take city tour of Kandy and visit the Sacred Temple pf the Tooth Relic, then continue on to Nuwara Eliya. . Enjoy lunch at local restaurant / or at hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

Visit Gayathri Pedam. It is believed to be the place from where King Ravana's son Meghanath propitiated Lord Shiva with penance and poojas and in turn was granted supernatural powers by Lord Shiva. Return to hotel in Nuwara Eliya for dinner and overnight stay.

           

DAY 07: NUWARA ELIYA / HAGGALA / KATARAGAMA

After breakfast, check out form Hotel and leave for Kataragama. . Stop over at Hakgala to visit Jaw Rock – where the final battle between the Rama and Ravana took place and visit the Ravana Falls. Also visit the Sita Eliya Kovil, located near the Hakgala Gardens, the stream that runs from the hill, is said to have catered to the needs of Sita Devi during her stay at Ashoka Vatika. Now there stand is a Temple erected in honor of Lord Rama, Sita Devi, Luxshmana and Hanuman by the side of this stream. Enjoy lunch at local restaurant.

After lunch continue on route to Kataragama. Check in to hotel and after short rest visit the kovils and taking part in the Pooja at Kataragama. Kataragama is the location where Rama met Sita after her release from captivity. It is from Kataragama that Rama, Sita & Lakshman returned to India in a Chariot lent to them by Indra. Dinner and overnight stay in Tissamaharama.

DAY 08: KATARAGAMA /GALLE/ COLOMBO

After breakfast, check out from hotel and visit Ussanggoda. According to the Ramayana, after meeting Sita Devi, Lord Hunuman decided to test the strength of the mighty King Ravana and his army of Rakshasas. During the events that unfolded Lord Hunuman's tail was set on fire. Lord Hunuman in turn went on to set fire to some parts of King Ravana's kingdom. Ussanggoda is one the torched areas, which is said to have been an air port used by King Ravana. After the visit proceed to Galle.

Enjoy lunch in Galle at local restaurant.

In Galle visit Rumasela. Rumesala is known to be part of the Hill brought back to Sri Lanka from the Himalayas by Lord Hanuman. Lord Hanuman was sent to bring back a life saving herb, from the jungles of Himalayas to revive Lords Rama and Lakshmana. Unable to identify the herb he is said to have lifted the whole hill and brought it back to Sri Lanka. Parts of the hill is said to have fallen in five different places in Sri Lanka namely Rumasala, Dolukanda, Ritigala, Thalladi and Kachchativu. After visiting Rumasela proceed to Colombo. Check in at hotel in Colombo for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 09: COLOMBO

After breakfast, take city tour of Colombo, and visit all the prominent Hindu temples of Colombo. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Colombo After lunch day free to indulge in shopping and relaxation.

Dinner and overnight stay in Colombo.

DAY 10: COLOMBO AIRPORT / DEPARTURE

After breakfast spend day at leisure.

Transfer to Colombo International Airport for Departure.
